Play Multi-Room Music on Echo Devices

Multi-Room Music allows you to play and control music across supported Echo devices and compatible speakers at the same time.

You can find supported Echo devices and speaker pairs in the Alexa app during Multi-Room Music setup.

Tip: For more information about speaker pairs, go to Set Up Echo Speakers For Stereo Sound.

To create a Multi-Room Music group in the Alexa app:

  1. Select the Devices icon .
  2. Select the + icon and then Add Multi-Room Music Speakers.
  3. Use preset group names, or create your own by selecting Custom Name.
  4. Select which devices to include and then select Create Group.

To begin Multi-Room Music playback, say, "Play [music selection] on [group name]."

Note: Audio from video content does not play on Multi-Room Music Groups.

Bluetooth Speakers and Multi-Room Music

You can connect a Bluetooth speaker to your Echo device while using Multi-Room Music. If the Bluetooth speaker that a customer is using with Multi-Room Music causes an echo or "stadium" effect, the Bluetooth speaker must be resynced.

To resync your Bluetooth speaker and Echo device:

  1. Select the Devices icon "".
  2. Scroll down and select the Multi-Room Music group where an issue is occurring.
  3. Select Audio Sync Problems?.
  4. Mute speakers until you find which two speakers have an issue. Be sure to include one internal speaker when checking audio sync.
  5. Select the connected speaker you need to resync, toggle slider position, and select Apply.
  6. Allow app to confirm changes, and then select Back. If issues continue, repeat steps 4 and 5.

To adjust volume level:

  1. Select the Devices icon "".
  2. Scroll down and select the Multi-Room Music group.
  3. From Settings, select Sounds to adjust volume level.
